The fourth industrial revolution, called Industry 4.0 (I-4.0) is a great opportunity to boost the development of Mexico, as it represents the consolidation of a platform that promotes the growth and productivity of companies.

Cyber physical systems are the essence of I-4.0, represents an important evolution of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), which constitute a new generation which allows a high degree of connectivity, collaboration, independence, adaptability, security and usability of all types of objects, processes or services.

FUMEC promotes that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are able to take advantage of these technologies,  know them and adopt those that are useful to boost their productivity and capacity for innovation.

FUMEC has placed emphasis on promoting innovation ecosystems in Mexico with networks of international experts, mainly from the United States, to accelerate the adoption process of I-4.0 technologies in companies in strategic sectors.

An example of this effort is reflected in the creation of a Productivity and Innovation Center for Industry 4.0 (CEPRODI 4.0) in Querétaro. CEPRODI 4.0 is a flagship program for I 4.0 that offers services to enterprises that include consulting and demonstration projects to accelerate the adoption of I 4.0 technologies.

The founding partners of CEPRODI 4.0 are the Technological University of Querétaro (UTEQ), the United States-Mexico Foundation for Science (FUMEC) and the Government of the State of Querétaro, with the support of the Program for the Development of the Software Industry and Innovation (PROSOFT) of the Secretariat of Economy; and the Secretariat of Sustainable Development of Querétaro (SEDESU),

CEPRODI offers services such as:

CEPRODI also supports the implementation of pilot and demonstration projects through specialized consulting and the use of infrastructure focused on the implementation of systems for digitizing process variable to calculate performance indicators; the use of digital modeling and simulation tools for design and validation of products and processes, such as the creation of molds and dies; the development of prototypes; and the application and / or integration to processes of one or several digital technologies associated with I-4.0.
